Drift Electronics & Tires
Gyros
This is the most important part of your drift build - the gyro. DO NOT cut corners here. The below gyros are ones that I have personally tested and do recommend.
ESCS
The key to a good RC drift ESC: smooth throttle, adjustable boost and turbo, and plenty of power. The below ESCs fit these requirements while coming in at different budget levels.
Motors
IF you are going to cut corners anywhere in your RC drift build - this is the place to do it. Yes, there is a feel difference between the more premium vs budget options - but I would say it only really matters for the most competitive of drivers. Make sure your motor is sensored so you can take advance of the turbo and boost in your ESC. Otherwise, I have just as good of results from the cheapest on this list as I have the most expensive.
Servos
Not all servos are created equal when it comes to RC drifting. One accident I see MANY new folks make is to put their basher servo into their drift car. It is plenty strong and fast - so why doesn't it work? Precision and dampening. Two things you just don't care about much in bashing. With the very quick steering ratios in drift cars, the precision of servos matters - otherwise the steering feels sloppy. The dampening is an internal programming of the servo that reduces unwanted wobble. Both of these things help to make your drift car drive smoother, so don't take a chance on an unproven servo. Get one of these ones listed here.
Tires
There is no "correct" tire to buy, and nobody on the internet can tell you what tire you need for a given surface. The surface you are driving on will not match anyone else's, you will need to test this for yourself. Good news - drift tires are cheap, and frequently will last a very long time. The below recommendations are just starting points to get you tested, and brands that have proven themselves. Don't see a brand listed below, don't trust it. Common newb mistake: wanting more traction. This is VERY COMMON. Try to avoid this trap. You want to practice on the hardest/slowest tire you can - it will make you a better driver.
Wheels
Wheels make a surprising difference in rc drifting. I was SUPER skeptical and didn't believe it - but over time, it continues to be proven true. You want light weight, flexible, and uniform. You DO NOT want aluminum wheels for rc drifting - as they are not 2 of the 3 criteria. Some tracks actually do not allow them on track as well, so be aware of that. The below wheels are the ones I typically keep around for drift builds.
